Wuhan Coronavirus (2019-nCov)

On January 8, 2019 I posted this blog:

Thankfully it is less (at this time) severe than the 3 illinesses listed above and hopefully it will stay that way. Mutation is always possible and it could get worse, but, as of yet, it hasn’t shown any signs of doing so.

Pretty soon it will be the world-wide pandemic that a lot of people feared, but hopefully it will be less that what they expected. It’s been discussed before that the next pandemic will start in overcrowded cities, usually thought of in China or India, and not remote, less-populated areas like with Ebola, Crimean-Congo or Lassa diseases. This seems to be what is occurring at this time,

What I would like to do today is discuss “human nature” at this point in this outbreak.

1)  All ready I’m seeing “conspiracy theories” and anti-vaccine propoganda coming out about this outbreak. 

I literally just read a facebook post while writing this stating that 2019-nCoV is a man-made virus as per something called the Agenda 2030 plan to reduce the population.

Say what?

Looked it up: A United Nations plan for “Transforming Our World” The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Have seen billboards about it predicting Doom and Gloom.

2) Some people are ignoring common sense public health requirements for their pleasure or satisfaction as in this article:

3) Panic is starting to set in as people become fearful of getting the disease. I can’t tell you how many articles I’ve seen of panic buying of surgical mask and emergency supplies. Pretty soon we will be seeing stories of people accidently poisoning themselves in an attempt to make their mask safer by soaking them in various fluids. 

Along with the panic buying of supplies, there is also the panic with members of the public fearful of governments setting up treatment areas close to them. The following articles is one example:

4) Everyone will see it everywhere – don’t cough or sneeze in public. I don’t even want to go any further with this one. People will quickly go to the extreme to “protect themselves”. Bodily injuries, jails and lawsuits predicted.

As stated in the article this person did not meet the criteria for 2019-nCoV. but was taken off for asn abudance of caution

If Wuhan mutates into something more lethal it will get worse – not the number of sick (that’s a given) but how the public will respond to it. Unfortunately, the human animal is just that “an animal”

Wuhan-Linked Coronavirus Infects Health Care Workers in China

This is where it starts to get interesting!

The rapidly developing situation with the “Novel” Coronavirus (2019 – nCoV) linked to Wuhan, China is showing that human to human transmission is probable as it is now infecting Health Care Workers working with the initial patients. An airborne risk factor now adds a much larger degree of possible infectious spread.

Add to the mix the fact that it is the Chinese New Year and millions of Chinese citizens are expected to travel within China AND other Countries and we are looking at the possible beginnings of a superspreading virus with worldwide consequences.

And it is showing up in other areas within China as well as in South Korea and Thailand.

While not predicting any similarities, think about the “Spanish Flu” of 1918 and how quickly it spread – even without today’s air travel. Right now, a lot of Infectious Disease Specialists are having nightmares and living on antacids.

So far, Wuhan Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is milder than it’s more lethal siblings S.A.R.S. (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and M.E.R.S – CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and the survival rate is much higher, it is still something to keep an eye on.
